Tempered glass is characterised by the fact that it has been specially heat-treated and is therefore particularly shock and impact resistant. The advantage: Should it break, it bursts into the smallest parts without sharp edges. We have taken this from automotive engineering, where tempered glass, for example, has been used for decades and effectively prevents cuts and impacts.
